The global downturn has put Russia's forest industry in a difficult situation. All the measures adopted so far have been aimed the increasing of the timber working in the country.

Russia might postpone the increase of duties for at least by one more year till 2011.

Due to changes on the outer market some enterprises had to stop production and shipment, which led to decline in production output.

Russia needs to develop its domestic wood-products industry.

As for woodworking plants the company purchased SAB machinery (Germany) to the amount of 70 mln RUR (over 1.6 mln EUR).

However, the growth can be watched in veneer and chipboard manufacture. 

The capacity of the domestic market of woodworking is estimated in the range of $ 2-2,5 billion.
