Pulp and Paper Sector Print

Welcome to www.runa.info!

P&P sector during the recent decade has been holding the leading position in the Russian timber industry (sawmilling, harvesting and deep mechanical wood processing lagging behind in terms of production growth rate and general output indexes development). In spite of this fact, already in 2005 (when the annual production growth index made up some 5.5%) some experts forecasted the coming soon (within 1-2 years) decline in production growth and even turning towards a lame-duck industry.

At the same time one of the issues that is recently becoming of more and more concern is that most of the Russian pulp and paper producers still use out-dated technologies, deterioration level of the operating facilities being extremely high. Non-advanced technologies applied are unable to ensure product quality required to satisfy the world standards, which makes the Russian pulp and paper sector a raw material (pulp) exporter. Moreover, due to outdated technologies many paper products, which could ensure a large share of import-substitution, cannot be produced in the country.

Market situation is constantly changing especially today under the conditions of the world economic crisis. Our challenge is to provide an objective picture of the Russian pulp and paper sector that can be used as a strategic basis for pulp and paper companies, machinery and equipment suppliers, investors and others interested in the Russian market.

In this section of the web-site you will find:
