JSC Vyborgskaya Cellulose is to stop modernization of the mill in Sovetsk (Leningrad region) due to the delay of credit from VTB Bank. Vyborg PPM intended to replace Teleperm control system of paper making machine with Siemens control system. Besides, paper making machine was to be modernized according to the agreement signed with Voith – investment volume making up 16.8 million USD. Siemens equipment was delivered last year. However, it can’t be assembled as Voith parts are still at the port in St. Petersburg due to the cut off funding of the bank. Management of the Vyborg PPM relies on the help of the regional administration and hopes that the project will be realized by the end of this year. As a result, mill’s capacity is to increase by 50 thousand tons per year. Currently production output makes up 63 thousand tons of kraft-liner and 30 thousand tons of two-layered wallpaper base annually. Further development will allow increasing mill’s capacity up to 200 thousand tons by 2010. Thus, paper making machine being modernized, the mill will produce over 250 thousand tons of test-liner per year. Currently the project is postponed without date.
