May 5-6, 2009 auditors assessed a joint-project of Solombala Pulp and Paper Mill (Arkhangelsk region) and Camco International on bark and wood wastes utilization. The project aims to modernize power system and to use bark and wood wastes instead of part of expensive and ecologically faulty fossil fuels. The project was realized at Solombala PPM in 2000-2007 and included three stages: reconstruction of No 5 boiler of TPP- 1 (transition to bark and wood fuel), construction of bark package (TPP-1), replacement of gas cleaning unit of No 5 boiler (TPP-1). Total investment volume amounted to 5.8 million EUR (258 million RUB). The audit was performed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) with the participation of Camco International. The report is to be prepared in the nearest future. As Camco International estimated, the project being realized at JSC Solombala PPM greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 130 thousand tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent.
