Leningrad region: more investments in timber industry

In January-March 2009 volume of foreign investments in the budget of the Leningrad region increased as much as 2.8 times as compared to the analogous period in 2008 and made up 537.6 million USD.

Of them 396.7 million USD (73.8%) falls on the USA, 47.9 million USD (8.9%) – Finland, 34.1 million (6.3%) – Austria and 25.1 million USD (4.7%) – the Netherlands.

The money was mainly invested in manufacturing activities (476.9 million USD, 88.7%), in agriculture, hunting and forestry development (24.5 million USD, 4.6%) and in transport (24.4 million USD, 4.5%).

Production facilities launched in January-April 2009 include the first stage of a woodworking plant with capacity reaching 230 thousand cubic meters of sawn timber per year (LLC MM-Efimovsky).
